Atalanta have been dealt a significant setback with the news that midfielder Marco Brescianini will be out of action for over a month due to injury. The 24-year-old, who joined Gian Piero Gasperini’s side from Frosinone this summer, was forced to leave the field during the first half of the 1-1 draw against Bologna.
Calciomercato report how Brescianini sustained a muscular problem in his left thigh flexors around the 38th minute of the match. The incident occurred when he attempted to control a pass from Kolasinac and stretch to shoot towards Skorupski’s goal. Immediately after the attempt, Brescianini fell to the ground, clutching his thigh and calling for medical assistance.
Despite initially trying to continue, Brescianini had to be substituted in the 44th minute after aggravating the injury in a challenge with Fabbian. Lazar Samardzic replaced him and went on to score the equalizer for Atalanta.
The club conducted diagnostic tests at their Zingonia training center, revealing a second-degree lesion of the left biceps femoris. As a result, Brescianini will not travel with the team to Gelsenkirchen for their upcoming match. He has already begun therapy and is expected to be unavailable for several weeks.
This injury comes as a blow to Atalanta and Gasperini, who will have to adjust their midfield plans in the coming matches. The team will be hoping for a swift recovery for Brescianini as they navigate through a busy schedule in both domestic and European competitions.
