Como sporting director Carlalberto Ludi recently gave an extensive interview to Radio Rai, discussing the team’s positive momentum under Cesc Fabregas’ leadership. After a slow start, Como has rebounded with victories against Atalanta and Venezia, climbing to mid-table.
Ludi explained the team’s success: “We don’t have any particular secrets. I believe the stability of our ownership is the foundation on which we build our work. We’ve chosen a methodological approach that’s giving us great results today, under the guidance of a great coach, young but already accomplished like Cesc Fabregas. There’s also great managerial balance: Serie A scared us and still does. But we know that if we maintain balance, we can have a good season.”
Regarding Patrick Cutrone’s impressive form, Ludi commented: “Patrick is giving a lot. He’s found emotional balance in a place that loves him, his home. He’s working hard, reclaiming what he deserves because Serie A is his stage. He already has four goals, plus a forced own goal and a missed penalty – he could have been at six already.”
Ludi outlined Como’s transfer strategy: “We sought to bring international experience with Belotti, Reina, and Sergi Roberto, Italian identity with Mazzitelli and Dossena, and young talents like Nico Paz. A club must also sustain itself with the future development of its young players.”
When asked about their upcoming match against Napoli, Ludi said: “We approach this game with great enthusiasm and courage, reflecting the manager’s mentality. We must be very humble; it will be a challenging match, but for us, like the away game in Bergamo, it’s a further test to understand our personality.”
Ludi revealed Atalanta as their inspiration: “If we stick to the football model, in Italy, the example to follow is Atalanta, for what they’ve achieved in the last fifteen years under Percassi’s management: the most virtuous model, where they’ve managed to combine sporting and financial results.”
Finally, Ludi praised the Indonesian Hartono family’s ownership: “The ownership is very ambitious, always wanting to move in the direction of growth, achieving new goals. We don’t make crazy expenses; we have an initial budget to respect, but it’s normal that with their strength, we have the possibility to work even on emergencies. Plus, we don’t feel any financial problems. These are small and big things that can make a difference in a club.”
