De Rossi: ‘We played an excellent game against Juventus’

Daniele De Rossi praised his Roma side for their performance in a 1-1 draw against Juventus: “We played an excellent match.” The Giallorossi knew that victory would keep them in contention for a place in next seasons Champions League, while Juve could have sealed a place in the top 4 with a win at the Olimpico. Speaking with DAZN post-match, De Rossi offered his assessment of the game:

“We played an excellent match. Just 48 hours ago, we were patched up after an intense game. I can only be proud, happy, in short, draws don’t please us, but the attitude and desire of the players to reach the objective make me happy. There are four, five players who have played ten thousand minutes since they arrived. They are strong, really strong.”

Regarding Dybala’s substitution, De Rossi noted: “He felt discomfort in the adductor, he says it’s nothing serious, but we will evaluate what to do in the coming days.”

Reflecting on the team’s energy levels towards the end and their physical work, De Rossi remarked: “We wanted to win it, but it’s not convenient to stretch the field. We need to be able to make physical efforts while maintaining lucidity. We have a very small flaw: when we concede a chance, we get scared. When a goal conceded or a chance conceded doesn’t change anything, the opponents are the same.”

On the Champions League battle, De Rossi highlighted the necessity of winning against Atalanta. “We are forced to go to Bergamo to win. Atalanta’s recovery (against Fiorentina, which will be after the end of the season) will be played very late. We can’t afford to be subservient to that result. It definitely alters everything, what happened, happened.”
