Dybala: ‘We have have the best coach in the world’

Roma forward Paul Dybala believes the club have ‘the best coach in the world’ in Jose Mourinho, following their 2-1 victory over Empoli. The Giallorossi were the better side but had some worrying moments before the result was assured thanks to a late winner from Tammy Abraham.

Speaking to Sky Sport after the match, Dybala offered his assessment of the teams performance and tactics:

Mourinho wanted Tammy and I to play close to each other and press Empoli’s centre-backs.

After the goal I disobeyed his orders a bit: they found more space, and so I had to play deeper. It’s something I can do.

To compete? I said it in the first press conference: we must be calm. There is a great desire to win, we have the best coach in the world and great players at his disposal.

We have to be calm, and play to the best of our abilities. We came off two losses and we had to react: this is what great teams do.

La Joya also spoke with DAZN and went into detail about the summer and his move to the capital:

It had never happened to me before to be left standing around with a team. But I remained calm. I needed a team to keep myself fit and sharp and help me prepare for the World Cup.

I was never afraid of the uncertainty. I found the best place for me,” he added.

The missed penalty? We usually decide on the spot. Lorenzo hadn’t scored in a while so we wanted him to regain some confidence back. Next time we’ll also decide on the spot.”
