Roma fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Stephan El Shaarawy’s injury appears less serious than initially feared. The winger, who was forced to leave the field during the match against Monza, has been diagnosed with a minor strain in his left calf muscle.
Calciomercato report that the club’s medical staff will continue to monitor El Shaarawy’s condition in the coming days. There is hope at Trigoria that he might be available for the upcoming match against Inter Milan. If not, he is expected to return for the third round of the Europa League, scheduled for October 24th at the Stadio Olimpico against Dynamo Kyiv.
El Shaarawy’s season has not started as well as he would have hoped. In the early matches under De Rossi, he was used sparingly due to fitness concerns stemming from an injury sustained during the European Championship. This setback prevented him from training regularly during the summer.
Now, manager Ivan Juric risks losing El Shaarawy for the crucial match against Inter. The left flank is already depleted with Saelemaekers also sidelined (currently undergoing therapy at Trigoria). However, Juric can count on the return of Zalewski, who has been reintegrated into the squad after his proposed transfer to Galatasaray fell through.
This injury comes at a challenging time for Roma, as they look to build momentum in both domestic and European competitions.
