Fabregas praises Como’s performance following Verona victory

Start

Como head coach Cesc Fabregas was thrilled with his team’s performance following their 3-2 victory against Verona. The win, their second league victory in a row, moves them into the top half of the table, while also seeing a marked improvement in their performance, something Fabregas pointed to in his post-match press conference: “We won deservedly, but we must continue to understand where we can improve.” He highlighted areas for growth, particularly in game management: “We can’t concede goals in the final minutes as we did against Bologna and in Bergamo. We need to improve here. In the first half, we could have done better, been more clinical, and finished our chances. We conceded a lot in the end, perhaps due to physical fatigue. I need to find the right way to close out the game after dominating.”

When asked about Patrick Cutrone’s goal-scoring potential, Fabregas emphasized the importance of team play: “I don’t know, it’s a team matter. If we play well, there are excellent opportunities. It depends on how we manage the game to put him in a position to do well. I’m happy; the whole team feels part of the group.”

Fabregas had special praise for Nico Paz: “We know that Nico is a valuable player. I know him well; I wanted him here. But let’s stay calm. The Argentine national team coach called me: he needs to continue working like this, also for his personality, but he must keep his feet on the ground. We still have work to do. I’m happy for him and for his performance. But also for his mentality.”

Regarding Andrea Belotti’s contribution, Fabregas expressed his contentment: “I’m happy. He scored the winning goal. It’s important to give him playing time, even if it’s just a few minutes. Everyone needs to feel part of the family. It’s a big step for Belotti. Now we need to think about Napoli; we want to go there and put in a good performance.”
