Galatasaray Linked With Move For Empoli’s Goglichidze

Start

The Italian transfer window may have closed on February 4, but the Turkish market remains open until February 11, keeping Serie A clubs on alert for potential outgoing transfers. Galatasaray, in particular, continues to scout talent in Italy, with their sights set on Empoli’s promising defender, Saba Goglichidze.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that despite numerous inquiries during the Italian window, Goglichidze remained with Empoli. However, Galatasaray have not given up on acquiring the Georgian talent. The Turkish giants have maintained contact with Empoli’s management, including discussions as recent as today.

Empoli, for their part, have rebuffed Galatasaray’s initial offer for a permanent transfer. The Italian club’s reluctance stems from the challenge of finding a suitable replacement, as they would be limited to signing free agents at this stage.

Nevertheless, the pursuit may not be over. There’s speculation that Okan Buruk’s side could return with an improved offer for the 20-year-old defender. Galatasaray’s interest in Goglichidze appears to be part of their strategy to reinforce their backline, possibly in response to recent defensive departures.
