Giuntoli: ‘Koopmeiners? We just want to think about the Coppa Italia final’

Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli spoke ahead of the Coppa Italia final and says he isn’t thinking about the transfer market for now. The Bianconeri are expected to undergo significant changes to their personnel in the summer, which coach Max Allegri expected to depart after three years with the club. Speaking with Sportmediaset, Giuntoli talked about the importance of winning the final, ignoring transfer links to the likes of Teun Koopmeiners:

It’s your first final as a fan and as a Juventus executive. Which aspect prevails in you tonight?

“In both cases, it’s a tremendous emotion, the culmination of an important season. After securing qualification for the Champions League, the boys have also taken us to the Coppa Italia final, which wasn’t our initial objective, so we are very pleased. Tonight, we hope to put on a great performance and try to win.”

Yesterday, Allegri said that if he were to eventually leave Juventus – emphasizing ‘eventually’ twice – he would leave a treasure trove for the club. How does the management respond?

“At this moment, honestly, we’re not thinking about the transfer market. It’s obvious that next year we have many competitions ahead, and it’s obvious that we need to organize ourselves. We still need to sit down with the coach, discuss with the ownership, and we will have time and ways to plan for the future.”

How much could winning the Coppa Italia potentially impact next year?

“Winning is always important; it would first and foremost be a source of satisfaction. Additionally, winning helps to win; certainly, in a new journey, it would give us the necessary boost to continue and believe in a project.”

Is Koopmeiners a player who could play for a team like Juventus?

“Koopmeiners is definitely a good player, Atalanta is full of good players, but I want to talk more about our players, who have brought us to this final tonight. At the moment, we don’t want to think about the transfer market; our focus is on tonight. It’s a very important evening, and we want to enjoy it to the fullest.”
