Inter Milan have identified Luka Sucic as a prime target for their future midfield plans, with both the technical staff and ownership in agreement over the Croatian talent. The 21-year-old, whose contract with RB Salzburg expires on June 30, 2025, could become Inter’s next free transfer coup if he doesn’t renew with the Austrian club.
Calciomercato report that Sucic, who turns 22 on September 8, has caught the attention of Inter’s management team of Beppe Marotta, Piero Ausilio, and Dario Baccin. His potential arrival as a free agent aligns with the club’s transfer strategy and has received approval from the Oaktree fund, Inter’s owners.
A source close to the club stated, “Sucic represents an opportunity that combines both present and future value for Simone Inzaghi’s team. Unlike recent free transfers like Zielinski and Taremi, Sucic’s young age adds a different dimension to the deal.”
Inter faces competition from several European clubs for Sucic’s signature, and Salzburg may attempt to sell him before January to avoid losing him for free. However, Inter remains hopeful of securing the Croatian midfielder, viewing him as a potential successor to Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the left midfield role. With Mkhitaryan turning 36 in January and entering the final year of his contract, Sucic could provide a long-term solution.
An Inter coach commented, “Sucic offers tactical flexibility. He can play as an attacking midfielder, giving Inzaghi various options on the field.”
The club is closely monitoring Sucic’s contract situation with Salzburg, ready to make a decisive move when the opportunity arises. His potential signing represents a continuation of Inter’s successful free transfer strategy, with the added benefit of securing a young, promising talent for the future.
