Juventus reignite pursuit of Zirkzee as Milan cool Interest

Start

According to Corriere dello Sport, Juventus have reignited their interest in signing Joshua Zirkzee, with new coach Thiago Motta pushing for the acquisition of the Dutch striker. Meanwhile, Milan, who seemed to be in pole position to secure Zirkzee’s services, have cooled their pursuit due to a couple of reasons.

According to the newspaper, Motta, who recently joined Juventus after a successful stint at Bologna, envisions Zirkzee playing as a second striker behind Dusan Vlahovic, with the ability to rotate and substitute the Serbian forward in a season that could potentially feature over 70 matches across five competitions.

The report suggests that while Vlahovic’s €12 million net salary poses a challenge for a potential sale, Motta views this as an opportunity to have a strong attacking duo, turning a potential club issue into a tactical advantage.

As for Milan, their interest in Zirkzee has cooled for two main reasons:

1. New coach Paulo Fonseca has reportedly requested a more traditional, poacher-style striker in the mold of Olivier Giroud, as the Rossoneri lack another profile to pair with Zirkzee, unlike Juventus with Vlahovic.

2. Zirkzee’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, continues to demand a €15 million commission, which Milan is unwilling to pay in its entirety.

While Juventus remains keen on securing Zirkzee’s services, with Motta pushing for the move, Milan’s interest has waned due to tactical considerations and financial demands from the player’s representatives.

The transfer saga surrounding the Dutch striker continues, with Juventus emerging as the frontrunner to secure his signature, aligning with Motta’s tactical plans for the upcoming season.
