Following Juventus’ 2-2 friendly draw against Brest in Pescara, Manuel Locatelli shared his thoughts on the match, the upcoming season under new coach Thiago Motta, and his personal disappointment at missing out on Euro 2024.
Regarding the match (as quoted by Gianluca Di Marzio), Locatelli said, “It’s a shame we conceded a goal at the end, but I think it was a good game.” He acknowledged the quality of their French opponents, who will compete in the Champions League next season.
The midfielder then discussed the new era under Thiago Motta: “Clearly, a lot of enthusiasm has been brought in. The staff members are very sincere and direct people, and this is certainly important because clear ideas are needed. There is room to do excellent work.”
When asked if winning is still the only thing that matters this year, Locatelli responded, “The motto is always the same, but honesty is needed in everything. We work and train to win, but we need to take one step at a time without talking too much. We need humility every day. Then we’ll see the results as well.”
Lastly, Locatelli addressed his omission from the Euro 2024 squad: “It’s clear that it was a huge disappointment, but those are negative energies that I don’t give importance to. I focus on the present, I only think about working day by day.”
