Moggi: ‘Allegri, you’ve talked too much, with this Juve you can’t afford it’

Start

Former Juventus director Luciano Moggi was scathing in his criticism of coach Max Allegri, following their 5-1 loss to Napoli. The Bianconeri were hopelessly outmatched when they visited the Stadio Diego Maradona on Friday evening, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen leading the rout. Writing in Libero (via IlNapolista), Moggi singled out Allegri for his approach to the game and for allowing detractors to find ammunition to use against him:

“Ouch-ouch Mister Allegri, you talked too much before the match and you shouldn’t have declared that “you’re coach by chance or you’re coaching by accident” because, by doing so, you corroborate the thoughts of the Juventus fans, especially after the Napoli debacle. And you take away our chance to defend you.

You shouldn’t have been dueling at a distance with Spalletti about Juve and Napoli’s chances, ultimately making yourself look like someone who doesn’t even know the state of his own team.

You should not fall into these traps, unless the string of eight matches won without conceding a goal, among other things. played badly, has also deluded you, as well as frightening the usual detractors who, forgetting the rubbish they had thrown at Juve some time ago, have presented them as Napoli’s number one opponent, defining the Maradona match as the ‘scudetto match’ without taking into account the difference in quality between the two teams.

They did it to save face as traders should the memory of a comeback made by Juve in 2015, when they managed to recover 15 points from the first match and win the championship, with you as coach.

You, however, must not fall for it because that was a different team to this one and it would be enough to cite the names of Chiellini, Buffon, Barzagli, Bonucci, etc…: of a different category to those of today.

Moreover, in those days Juventus had forwards who score the goals, firing cannon shots into the opponent’s goal, while now, unfortunately, they have players who shoot with water pistols and they are sixth in the attacking department of the current championship, with only 27 goals scored.”
