Monza manager Alessandro Nesta addressed the media ahead of his team’s upcoming match against Inter Milan at the U-Power Stadium. The former AC Milan defender took the opportunity to discuss various topics, including his past relationship with Inter and his team’s preparations.
Nesta began by expressing optimism about his team’s readiness: “We hope our season can take off starting with the Inter game, and if it does, it would be a great achievement. The team is ready, and we’ve managed to recover some players as well.”
When asked about his supposed rivalry with Inter, Nesta was quick to dismiss any notion of animosity: “Even when I was a player, I didn’t have a rivalry with them. Inter fans have always shown great respect towards me, and vice versa. This extends to President Moratti as well.”
Addressing rumors about potential signings from the free agent market, particularly Mario Balotelli, Nesta stated: “Making transfers with free agents isn’t easy because everyone is after many players. If a free agent arrives, that’s fine, but we are who we are. We could have done something better, but also something worse. We’ve never discussed Mario Balotelli.”
Regarding Daniel Maldini’s situation facing Inter, given his family’s history with AC Milan, Nesta downplayed its significance: “Maldini against Inter is a journalistic and media issue. Personally, I focus on the field, and he still has a lot of room for growth. Daniel is aware of this, and so are we.”
Nesta concluded by discussing his approach to the upcoming match: “Before every game, I always want to win. I didn’t like how we managed the second half against Fiorentina. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. If Inter gives us the slightest opportunity to hurt them, we’ll take advantage of it.”
