OFFICIAL: Lazio sign Romagnoli and Gila

Lazio have confirmed the signing of centre-backs Alessio Romagnoli on a free transfer and Mario Gila from Real Madrid. The duo underwent medicals yesterday along with goalkeeper Luís Maximiano and while his signing is pending an official announcement, the defensive duo were confirmed by the club as new signings.

It’s a significant move for Romagnoli, who has signed a five-year contract with the club, as he’s supported Lazio since childhood. The 27-year-old has been quoted as saying:

“The first Serie A match I saw was a Lazio match. I always saw (Alessandro) Nesta as captain, I also had his poster. I am a Lazio fan and I have never hidden it.”

While Romagnoli has joined on a free transfer, Gila is expected to cost Lazio around €6m plus performance related bonuses.
