Okoye confirms Inter’s interest and discusses future plans

Maduka Okoye, the Udinese goalkeeper, has revealed that Inter Milan showed concrete interest in signing him during the summer transfer window. In an interview with Transfermarkt, Okoye confirmed the speculation surrounding his potential move to the Nerazzurri.

“Inter’s interest was concrete, but Udinese was asking for 15 million euros for my transfer,” Okoye stated. “There was a bit of a head-to-head, but in the end, Josep Martínez from Genoa was chosen. The release clause in his contract certainly made it easier for Inter to negotiate.”

Inter Milan ultimately opted to sign Martínez, paying 20 million euros to Genoa for his services. However, Okoye harbors no regrets about the missed opportunity.

“I’m not sad about this failed transfer. I’m happy to continue playing for Udinese,” the goalkeeper explained. “Going to Inter would have certainly been a dream, but I continue to look forward.”

Regarding his immediate future, Okoye was clear about his intentions: “I don’t see myself at another club in January. We’ll have to understand when and where the next step will be, but now I’m focused only on the present. I want to help the team and the fans to reach the highest possible position in the league table.”
