Fiorentina secured an impressive 2-1 victory against Lazio, thanks to a brace from Albert Gudmundsson. After the match, Fiorentina manager Raffaele Palladino shared his thoughts with DAZN.
Palladino began by analyzing the game: “I believe what happened today was beautiful. Even in the first half, we could have taken the lead before their goal from a set piece. I realized that within the group there are great men with a great spirit. Those who came on did so to change the game, and we deservedly turned it around.”
The Viola coach continued, “In the first half, we were timid. I want to see people with spirit and courage. Football is played to hurt opponents, not to be hurt. Then in the second half, we were braver, and it’s no coincidence that we managed to turn the game around and find the victory. We dedicate this to our president and the fans.”
Regarding the team huddle at midfield after the final whistle, Palladino explained: “Usually, I don’t talk at the end of the game; I prefer to do it with a cool head. But we were looking for this victory, and the boys have been incredible during this period. In recent matches, there was bitterness, but this is a competitive group that wants to win and tries. It’s normal that sometimes you win and sometimes you don’t, but the fact that we had a strange transfer market and the complete squad only for 15 days should be considered. This will be the match that will serve as a lesson for us.”
On Gudmundsson’s performance, Palladino said: “We were waiting for him; we know he’s a champion. He has great talent and flair. We put him in a position to do well.”
