Milan boss Stefano Pioli believes that ‘every little detail is important’ as the Rossoneri prepare for their Champions League match away to Borussia Dortmund. The Serie A side have lost just one match across all competitions this season and currently sit level on points with rivals Inter in the standings.
Pioli’s side drew their Champions League Group F opener at home to Newcastle United and so they are searching for their first European triumph of the season at Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday night. The Milan head coach spoke to Milan TV ahead of the game and spoke about their opponents, their Champions League group and the schedule:
“We try to prepare everything because it’s the Champions League: every little detail is important. It’s equally true that we will immerse ourselves in an adrenaline-filled and electrifying atmosphere but this could also serve to help us enter the game well. What matters in the end is to play well.”
On Dortmund: “A team that has important home numbers: in the Bundesliga they haven’t lost for a year, in the Champions League for even two. We know very well the difficulties we will encounter: a technical team but at the same time energetic and intense. A high-level performance will be needed. It won’t be decisive yet but important, yes.”
On the schedule: “This is the basis of a competitive and demanding season like we have. I think maintaining a level of availability, attention and performance from all the players is very important. There are some absences but it happens when you really play a lot, absolutely too much. But we will be ready”
