Roma Agree to Sell Aouar to Al Ittihad

Roma have  reached an agreement to transfer midfielder Houssem Aouar to Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad, bringing an end to the player’s brief stint in the Italian capital. The deal is reported to be worth €12 million plus bonuses.

Aouar joined Roma just last summer on a free transfer from Lyon, but his time with the Giallorossi has been cut short after only one season. During his tenure at Roma, the Franco-Algerian midfielder made 25 appearances across all competitions, scoring 4 goals.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the 25-year-old’s move to Al Ittihad will see him join a squad that already boasts several high-profile players with successful European careers, including French stars N’Golo Kanté and Karim Benzema.

This transfer marks another significant departure from European football to the Saudi Pro League, which has been attracting numerous established players with lucrative contracts in recent transfer windows.

For Roma, the sale of Aouar represents a quick profit on a player they acquired for free, potentially providing funds for reinforcements as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
