Roma fans plan protest over De Rossi’s dismissal, set to boycott Juric’s first match

Start

In a dramatic turn of events, AS Roma supporters are preparing to voice their discontent following the unexpected dismissal of beloved coach Daniele De Rossi. The decision, which came just four matches into the new season and shortly after De Rossi had signed a contract extension until 2027, has sent shockwaves through the Eternal City.

The club has swiftly appointed Ivan Juric, formerly of Torino and Genoa, as De Rossi’s replacement. However, Juric’s debut at the Stadio Olimpico against current Serie A leaders Udinese is set to be overshadowed by fan protests.

The Curva Sud, Roma’s most fervent supporter section, have announced plans to remain empty for the first 30 minutes of the match. In a statement, the ultras declared, “The time has come to make our voices heard,” and called upon fans from all sections of the stadium to join their demonstration.

This partial boycott will notably affect the pre-match atmosphere, with the absence of supporters during warm-ups and the traditional singing of the club anthem. While not a full-scale protest, the action is designed to send a clear message to the club’s management.

As the match approaches, it remains uncertain how many fans from other areas of the Stadio Olimpico will participate in this show of solidarity with De Rossi. The extent of empty seats could serve as a powerful visual representation of the fanbase’s disapproval of the club’s decision.
