Roma are once again being linked with a move for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, if Nicolo Zaniolo departs in the January transfer window. The Giallorossi are looking to sell their talented young winger in the next few weeks, rather than lose him for a reduced fee in the summer, with Tottenham Hotpsur in the lead to sign him
La Gazzetta dello Sport report that the capital club are in search of an additional midfielder to help bolster Jose Mourinho’s squad, and with Zaniolo looking ever more likely to depart, the Giallorossi are preparing to make some major reinforcements in the weeks ahead.
Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi remains a primary option, given his links with the club and desire to return to the capital, however he is unlikely to join until the summer. As such, Roma are still considering Aouar as an option for the centre of the pitch, given his availability.
The Frenchman is out of contract in the summer and his entourage are reportedly in contact with Roma management regarding a potential move. Gazzetta claim Lyon are willing to let Aouar go in January for a figure close to €5m, a figure that would be in reach for Roma, should Zaniolo leave in the weeks ahead.
