Romagnoli: ‘The Rome derby is a match that prepares itself’

Lazio captain Alessio Romagnoli believes the Rome Derby is a ‘match that prepares itself’, calling it ‘the game of games.’ Roma face the Biancocelesti tomorrow afternoon and the match carries an extra motivation to both teams, as victory could help either side cement a place in the top four, along with qualification for next seasons Champions League. Speaking to the official Lazio website (as quoted by TuttoMercatoWeb, Romagnoli spoke of the warmth and closeness in the clubs dressing room ahead of a huge game and why the Derby is ‘the game of games’ to those who have always supported Lazio:

“The derby is a match that prepares itself. It’s fundamental for the club and for our team. To win it we will have to give everything, put 110 per cent on the pitch and in every single moment within the 90 minutes.”

“The defeat to AZ? We are sorry for the way we went out, we had started well in both matches and then unfortunately we got caught up. Now we have to recover our energies and prepare ourselves in the best possible way for the final push we will have until the end of the championship”.

“Our defence being the second strongest? This change rewards the work of the whole team, since the summer training camp in Auronzo di Cadore, and that of the coach and his staff, who help us every day to improve.”

“Our secret? Our dressing room is made up of healthy and beautiful people, as if it were a second family. The newcomers have fitted in immediately thanks to those who have been playing in this team for so many years.

“The Derby? It is the match of matches. For those who are fans on the pitch, faith and heart lead you to feel it more and to play it with a different spirit compared to other matches”.
