Wojciech Szczęsny joked about Juve being in second place: ‘Hopefully this year they won’t take another ten points from us.’ A victory in Florence saw the Bianconeri climb up to second in the table, four points clear or Milan and two behind Inter. Speaking with Sky Sport Italia after a heroic performance between the sticks, Szczesny explained why Juve are in such good form of late, pointing to their strong form away from home:
More happy with the -2 from Inter or the +7 over Atalanta?
“More happy with the +3 gained today, it’s too early to look at the standings. We’re doing well, we’re bringing home positive results even in away matches, the last one in Milan and today in Florence are difficult results and we’re very happy with what we’re doing”.
Compared to last year, you are far ahead…
“Hopefully this year they won’t take another ten points from us and we’ll always be one step ahead. We are in a much better position than last year, I actually don’t even know how many points we have, we have to take one step at a time and think about Cagliari.
What has changed compared to last year?
‘There is a very good spirit, we have a very young team and no one feels superior to the others. There is a great margin for growth, this unity of the group in difficult moments, because today we went through some difficult moments, about 89 minutes (laughs, ed), they make you bring home the result and bringing home three points from Florence is not easy, we are happy”.
On the save on Biraghi?
“It looked difficult but it wasn’t. It was poorly angled and I parried it anyway”.
