Wijnaldum aims for Roma return in February

Roma central midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum aims to make his long-awaited return from injury as early as February.

After only playing a total of 12 minutes within the Giallorossi’s opening fixture of this year’s campaign against Salernitanta, the Dutchman suffered a fractured in tibia in training, forcing him to watch from the sidelines for five months, ruling him out until 2023.

As it stands, the 30 year-old’s recovery is progressing as the former PSG midfielder returned to the capital in order to regain muscular strength after having to wear a cast for a long period.

According to Turin-based newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport, Roma do not plan on rushing Wijnaldum’s return to the pitch. After the World Cup, the Dutch international will slowly be integrated into the first-team training, allowing him to be fully available at Mourinho’s disposal in early February.
