Inter 1-2 Roma: Player Ratings

Start

Inter piled on the early pressure and took a deserved lead but some great Roma goals helped seal a 2-1 comeback victory.

Inter

Handanovic: Made a great double save to deny Dybala but could do nothing on Roma’s wonderful equaliser or the eventual winner. 5.5/10

Skriniar: Looked a little caught for pace on one or two occasions but generally ok in the opening half. Let Smalling go for Roma’s second when he really needed to do better. Poor. 5.0/10

Bastoni: Solid in the box on Roma set-pieces and the better of the Inter defenders, but that’s not saying much. 6.0/10

Acerbi: Added a little experience to the back line and had a good grip of Zaniolo but needed to do better on both goals. 5.5/10

Dumfries: A subdued performance down the flank. 5.0/10

Asllani: A few early touches but nothing of note in the first ’45. Better in the second, firing a shot just wide of the far post. 5.5/10

Calhanoglu: Tested Patricio from range in the first half and had a great free-kick strike the upright. 6.0/10

Barella: Plenty of energy and invention, providing the assist for the opener.  6.0/10

Dimarco: Opened the scoring with a pinpoint finish into the bottom corner. 6.5/10

Dzeko: Had the ball in the net but a tight VAR disallowed it. Very quiet thereafter. 5.5/10

Martinez: Quiet in the opening half, limited in chances, started better in the second with some clever footwork and more invention. 6.0/10

Substitutions:

Miki: 5.0/10

Darmian: 5.0/10

Gosens: 5.0/10

Correa: 4.5/10

Bellanova: N/A/10

Roma

Patricio: Tested on numerous occasions in the first half and should have done better on the Inter opener, but generally sound.  5.5/10

Mancini: The best of the Roma back line in the opening half, even if he was reckless at times. 6.0/10

Smalling:  Under pressure and did well to keep Inter at bay for as long as he did. Reckless booking but made amends with a lovely header to put Roma ahead and made a potentially match-winning clearance in the 95th minute. 7.5/10

Ibanez: Found the early Inter attacks tough to contain, gave away the ball a few times and conceded a dangerous free kick. 6.0/10

Celik: A quiet start to the match, provided a great cross for Abraham that should have been converted. 6.0/10

Matic: Had some nice moments on the ball and some clever passes. Helped Roma manage the game and see out the win. 6.0/10

Cristante: Pretty subdued and didn’t really get a grip on the game to begin with. Better in the closing exchanges.  6.0/10

Spinazzola: Whipped in a lovely cross from the left to set-up Dybala’s equaliser.  6.5/10

Pellegrini: Didn’t really have much of an impact in the first half but his wonderfully floated free-kick was headed in by Smalling.  6.5/10

Zaniolo: Struggled to really impose himself in the opening exchanges and wasted one good chance. Needless booking in the 2nd half but he helped relieve the late pressure with some good runs. 5.5/10

Dybala: Burst into life with a wonderful volley that had the beating of Handanovic. A livewire but was unfortunately forced off through injury again. 6.5/10

Substitutions:

Abraham: Barely a sniff at goal to begin with before firing an effort right at Handanovic – Made a great solo run into the box that he had to do better with. 6.0/10

Belotti5.5/10

Camara: 5.5/10
