Start

Hans Hateboer has completed a permanent transfer from Atalanta to Stade Rennais, marking the end of his seven-and-a-half-year tenure with the Italian club. The 30-year-old Dutch right wingback joins the French Ligue 1 side after a successful spell in Serie A.

During his time at Atalanta, Hateboer made an impressive 245 appearances across all competitions, establishing himself as a key player in Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad. His contributions were instrumental in Atalanta’s recent successes, including their triumph in the UEFA Europa League on May 22.

The move to Stade Rennais represents a new chapter in Hateboer’s career as he takes on a fresh challenge in French football. His versatility and experience are expected to bolster Rennes’ squad as they aim to compete in both domestic and European competitions.

Atalanta expressed their gratitude for Hateboer’s service to the club, acknowledging his role in their recent achievements. The transfer fee is reported to be around €3 million, though official figures have not been disclosed.

Hateboer joins Rennes at a time when the club is undergoing significant changes in their squad. He is one of several new additions as Rennes look to strengthen their team following the departures of key players this summer.

The Dutch international’s move to Ligue 1 also reunites him with Ricky Massara, the former director of Milan and Roma, who has been orchestrating various transfers between Serie A and Ligue 1 clubs this summer.
