The agent of Torino forward Yann Karamoh has hit out at the Italian footballing authorities for failing to take action following the racist abuse the player suffered during a recent match against Lazio. The player was allegedly subject to vile racist abuse by a group of Biancocelesti supporters at the Stadio Olimpico, however, the FIGC opted not to take any action.
Karamoh’s agent Bruno Skropeta spoke to Turin-based Tuttosport (as quoted by CalcioMercato) about the incident, singling out the football authorities for their failure to act, and revealing the player has received support from those around him:
“What happened to Yann on Saturday is unacceptable and inconceivable. I am close to him and I am really surprised that the authorities have not yet dealt with this matter. Racist chants are a shame, they mustn’t happen for any reason – neither in Italy, nor anywhere in the world. Football is synonymous with unity and this difference in treatment is not acceptable.”
“Toro have been close to him. These are things that hurt. His teammates have also been close to him, but it is up to the authorities to prevent these events. Yann has received many messages of support and we are happy for this. It means that the there’s a problem. The club is also naturally on Yann’s side, who has put this episode behind him and wants to get back in top form, like before the injury. “
