Torino have officially appointed Marco Baroni as head coach following Paolo Vanoli’s departure.
Marco Baroni New Torino Manager
The managerial merry-go-round isn’t slowing down, as Torino parts ways with Vanoli and appoints Baroni as his successor.
The club confirmed both moves on Thursday in a pair of statements, making Baroni the newest addition to the growing list of Serie A managerial changes this summer.
Baroni has signed a two-year contract that will keep him at the helm of the Granata until June 2027.
Why Did Paulo Vanoli Leave Torino?
Vanoli’s tenure with Torino lasted just one campaign. While he guided the club to a mid-table 11th-place finish in Serie A, the team never seriously challenged for European qualification.
It’s fair to say his departure had been widely anticipated, and the official confirmation arrived early Thursday morning.
In their announcement, Torino thanked Vanoli and his staff for their “commitment and dedication” throughout the 2024–25 season and wished them success in their next steps.
Baroni Torino Contract
Later that same day, Torino introduced Marco Baroni as their new head coach. The 61-year-old Italian spent last season with Lazio, where he helped the Biancocelesti remain in the top four for much of the campaign.
However, a late-season collapse — including a defeat to Lecce on the final matchday — saw Lazio slip to seventh and miss out on European qualification.
Lazio ultimately decided to move on from Baroni and reappoint Maurizio Sarri as head coach.
Despite the setback, Baroni’s overall stock remains strong in Italian football circles. He has previously led both Lecce and Benevento to promotion from Serie B.
Baroni will officially begin his tenure with Torino on July 1, 2025.
Torino’s Goals Under Baroni
Torino president Urbano Cairo issued a warm welcome, stating, “Welcome to Torino! Good work and always Forza Toro!”
The appointment can be viewed as a fresh start as the club looks to rebuild and push toward European qualification under new leadership.
While the Granata lacked a bit of consistency last season, Baroni’s experience and tactical discipline could bring a more structured identity to the squad.
Torino are also expected to be active in the summer transfer market, looking to strengthen both in defense and attack.
