Theo Hernandez Looks Set For Al-Hilal Move After Transfer U-Turn

Start

Another twist in the Theo Hernandez Al-Hilal transfer saga has occurred with the Milan star reportedly making a sensational u-turn.

Hernandez’s future has been the subject of debate over the last few months. The France international has one year left on his current deal and looks certain to be leaving the Rossoneri this summer.

Interest in the full-back has been plentiful with a line of potential suitors all keen to secure Hernandez’s signature. Now, it appears that his future is on the brink of being finalized.

Will Theo Hernandez Join Al-Hilal?

On June 9, FootItalia reported that Theo Hernandez had rejected a move to Al-Hilal. Now, transfer guru and Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Hernandez has had a change of heart.

Romano said that the Saudi Pro League side are ‘confident’ of getting the green light from Hernandez. However, Simone Inzaghi’s side have provided the Milan full-back an ultimatum.

According to Sacha Tavolieri, Hernandez has been given 72 hours to accept the offer. If that deadline is not met, Inzaghi will start looking elsewhere and scrub the deal.

It appears that Inzaghi’s appointment is the main reason that the Rossoneri full-back has reassessed the offer. All that remains now is for the former Inter head coach to convince Hernandez to join.

How Much Will Theo Hernandez Cost Al-Hilal?

Theo Hernandez will cost Al-Hilal a reported €30–35 million. Milan had originally seeked a slightly lower fee but the Saudi side wanted to demonstrate their intent by offering more cash.

With that in mind, Simone Inzaghi’s side certainly holds the advantage over other interested parties. Furthermore, the Saudi club will be able to satisfy Hernandez’s wage demands.

He currently earns €5.1m a year meaning the France star could easily ask for double that figure with no real financial strain put on the mega-rich Al-Hilal.

Former Serie A stars Kalidou Koulibaly, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Joao Cancelo all currently play for the Blue Waves. Hernandez would be the first player to transfer directly from Italy’s elite soccer division to Inzaghi’s side should he decide to move to Saudi Arabia.

Who Else Is Interested In Theo Hernandez?

The best offshore sportsbooks had favored Theo Hernandez to move to Atletico Madrid earlier this month. However, Diego Simeone’s side was not willing to meet the desired transfer fee Milan wanted.

Serie A rivals Napoli, Juventus and Cesc Fabregas’ Como had also shown an interest. Across the continent, English Premier League sides Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle and both Manchester clubs were also keen.

Champions League winners PSG had also been linked with Hernandez. Former employers Real Madrid and current LaLiga champions Barcelona have also monitored the 27-year-old in recent months.

At the time of writing, it appears that Al-Hilal hold the advantage but Hernandez only has three days to give the move the green light or not.
