Confidence over De Ligt renewal

Start

Juventus defender Matthijs De Ligt is expected to renew his contract with the club while lowering his release clause. The Dutch International is viewed as the future of the Juve defence, following the departure of veteran defender Giorgio Chiellini.

It was reported that the 22-year-old had a €120 million release clause included in his contract with the Bianconeri when he made the switch from Ajax.

La Gazzetta Dello Sport journalist Giovanni Albanese reports that there is confidence in the club agreeing a renewal with De Ligt, who is also keen to continue his career in black and white. The release clause, however, is expected to be lowered to around €80 million.

Albanese also reports that Juve are on the hunt for a new left-sided centre-back to replace Chiellini with a number of names being evaluated.

The Bianconeri are also being linked with a move for a back-up striker to Dusan Vlahovic and while they were initially linked with Marko Arnautovic, the new candidate seems to be Atalanta striker Luis Muriel.
