UEFA have imposed a €1.5 million budget on Roma for the January transfer window, restricting their ability to reinforce. The Giallorossi have faced an injury crisis in recent months, leaving them with a limited amount of first team centre-backs for their upcoming Coppa Italia clash with Cremonese.
Il Corriere dello Sport report that Roma have been notified by UEFA that they can only operate within the Settlement Agreement that they previously reached, leaving them with a limited budget of €1.5 million.
The restriction means the Giallorossi can only sign players on loan, either at no cost or involving very low fees. There could be an exception could come in the form of outgoing transfers, with both Matias Vina or Leonardo Spinazzola linked with January moves, which could slightly bolster their transfer budget.
The Giallorossi were recently linked with a free transfer for former Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci, but have reportedly ditched the idea in favour of looking elsewhere.
