Done Deal: Federico Chiesa to join Liverpool

Start

Federico Chiesa has confirmed that he is set to join Liverpool from Juventus, with the transfer expected to be completed in the next day. Chiesa is set to leave Juventus and join Liverpool after a potential move to Barcelona fell through. The Reds secured the Italian winger’s services with a €13 million offer, outmaneuvering the Catalan giants who had initially reached a tentative agreement on personal terms with Chiesa but couldn’t find a way to integrate him into their squad.

As Chiesa prepared to embark on his new adventure, he took a moment to address Juventus fans: “Ready to begin this new adventure, I wanted to say goodbye to the Bianconeri supporters. Thank you for your affection and for these years, I will carry you in my heart, and thank you to Juventus. Am I sorry to leave Juve like this? I’m sorry, but I’m truly happy about this new adventure. I’m really happy, and my family and I can’t wait.”

Chiesa’s departure from Juventus became increasingly likely following Thiago Motta’s arrival in Turin. It was clear from the outset that the Italian international would not feature prominently in the new manager’s plans. Between late July and early August, after Chiesa missed the pre-season tour in Germany due to his wedding, he was informed of his exclusion from the first-team squad.

Since then, Chiesa has been linked with various clubs, including a speculative move to Inter Milan on a free transfer in 2025. However, concrete interest only materialized in recent days with Barcelona and Liverpool entering the fray.

At Liverpool, Chiesa will face stiff competition for playing time. The left wing is currently occupied by Luis Diaz and Gakpo, while Mohamed Salah holds down the right flank. With Nunez, Jota, and Szoboszlai also vying for attacking positions, opportunities may be limited. However, given the number of competitions Liverpool participates in, Chiesa should find chances to showcase his talents in Arne Slot’s 4-2-3-1 system.
