Juventus ahead in Rudiger race

Juventus are reportedly ahead of the opposition in the race to sign Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger on a free transfer in the summer. The 29-year-old is set to leave Stamford Bridge following Chelsea’s ongoing issues off the pitch with a number of Premier League and European sides interested.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that the Bianconeri are now in the lead to sign the German International, putting them ahead of both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Real Madrid were thought to be favourites, but Gazzetta claim Juventus offered Rudiger a salary package worth €7m per season to entice him to Turin next season.

Rudiger previously played for Roma in Italy before a €35m to Chelsea in 2018. Juve can benefit from the ‘growth decree’ which allows for discount on taxes for players joining the club from abroad.
