Juventus excludes Chiesa from squad: A sign of rupture

Start

In a surprising turn of events, Juventus have decided not to include Federico Chiesa in their squad for the upcoming friendly match against Brest. This decision by new manager Thiago Motta signals a potential break between the club and the Italian attacker.

The summer friendlies often serve as indicators for the upcoming season, and in both cases, Juventus seems prepared to move forward without Chiesa. The player appears to be increasingly marginalized in Motta’s new project, as evidenced by his exclusion from the squad for the Brest match.

Calciomercato report how Juventus will take the field in Pescara on Saturday evening without Chiesa, who is now almost considered a separate entity within the club. The organization is actively working to find a new destination for the player, whose contract is set to expire in 2025.

The official list of called-up players released by the Juventus coach notably lacks Chiesa’s name, along with other players such as Djalò, Nicolussi-Caviglia, Arthur, Rugani, De Sciglio, Szczesny, and Kostic.

There had been indications of Chiesa’s potential exclusion for some time, despite the fact that he had been training regularly with the group, unlike other surplus players. However, Motta does not consider him essential to his vision for Juventus and has left him in Turin, further signaling his availability on the transfer market.

It is estimated that a fee of €20-25 million would be required to secure Chiesa’s services. This potential sale could pave the way for new arrivals at Continassa, where the club is seeking players better suited to Motta’s system.

As for Chiesa’s next destination, while Roma had shown interest before turning their attention to Soulé, and the Napoli option has cooled, the ideal scenario for the player would be a team competing in the Champions League, possibly in the Premier League.
