With plenty of uncertainty regarding Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s future at Lazio emerging, the capital club have eyed Red Bull Salzburg central midfielder Luka Sucic as a potential replacement.
As it stands, the 27 year-old’s contract with the Biancocelesti is set to expire in the summer of 2024. Consequently, Lazio will be forced to offload the Serbian international within the near-future if they fail to reach an agreement throughout their extension discussions in order to avoid losing their skipper on a free transfer.
As the possibility of Milinkovic-Savic departing Lazio after seven years seemingly increasing as the season progresses, the club have identified a player that is very well tailored to fill the void.
As per La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lazio are keen on Luka Sucic as he provides very similar qualities that are apparent within Milnkovic-Savic’s performances on the pitch. The club are eager to pounce on the rising star, whose contract with the Austrian giants runs out in the summer 2025.
So far this season, the 20 year-old tailed four assists 12 games-played within the domestic league. In addition, the young prospect made four appearances thus far for the Croatian national team.
As a result of his impressive displays within the Champions League, European juggernauts Juventus, Milan, Liverpool, and Manchester United are all interested in acquiring the promising 18 million euro Croat within the central park. However, Lazio show no signs of retreating in their potential pursuit of Sucic despite many clubs being intrigued.
