Mourinho: “It was a fair and deserved victory”

Start

Jose Mourinho gave thanks to his Roma team following their 2-1 win over Sassuolo: “It was a fair and deserved victory.” The Giallorossi had to fight their way back after going a goal down, but a red card for the Neroverdi changed the complexion of the game. Goals from Paulo Dybala and Rasmus Kristensen completed the comeback, something Mourinho was thankful for in his post-match presser:

“I want to thank director Tiago Pinto and the club, who in the last few hours have given me the right support and needs to do the job well.”

“The team played well, I’m happy for my players and my fans. I also dedicate the victory to Salvatore Foti who was out today but worked hard and the victory belonged to him too.”

“It was a fair and deserved victory. The reason why I am speaking in Portuguese is because my Italian is not polished and strong enough to express certain concepts. When I talked about emotional stability I was referring to a necessary characteristic in football at the highest levels.”

“Regarding the situation that occurred in my not returning the ball which led to discontent among the fans and staff of Sassuolo, I simply approached my colleague and said that to receive fair play it is necessary to give it, and in Sassuolo there is a player who lacks in this.”
