Inter Milan Unlikely to Finalise Deal For Parma’s Ange-Yoan Bonny Before the Club World Cup

Start

Inter Milan are in advanced talks to sign one of Serie A’s brightest talents, but the latest Ange-Yoan Bonny transfer news suggests a deal before the Club World Cup is unlikely.

Inter Milan are still reeling from their end-of-season capitulation, which saw them relinquish their Serie A crown to Napoli, crash out in the Coppa Italia semi-finals to city rivals AC Milan, before enduring one of their darkest European nights in last month’s Champions League final.

The Nerazzurri must pick themselves up quickly, however, as they enter as one of the favoritess to win the reformatted Club World Cup, according to live betting sites.

Inter have sought to remedy at least some of their key sticking points before jetting off to the States in mid-June, but a key arrival is unlikely to join before the tournament.

Ange-Yoan Bonny Transfer News

From squeezing every ounce out of golden oldies to a new, youthful approach, Inter Milan have already signed two players aged 23 and under.

Luis Henrique, who arrives from Marseille off the back of a stellar campaign, and Petar Sucic, who has been compared to compatriot and former Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, will travel with the squad to the Club World Cup.

Inter had been hopeful to get a deal over the line for Parma forward Ange-Yoan Bonny, before June 10’s initial deadline for registering players for the tournament, but it now appears that window may be closing too soon.

Nevertheless, Inter remain in advanced talks with Bonny, who caught the eye after his goalscoring exploits helped Parma survive in their first top-flight season in four years.

The Serie A runners-up have held a long-standing interest in the France U21 international, having scouted him the season before last during a breakout campaign.

Cristian Chivu’s record for Parma, which is one of the reasons why Inter hired the former Nerrazzuri legend, was no doubt helped by Bonny, whose move to the San Siro likely edged a little bit closer upon Chivu’s appointment.

Although Bonny wouldn’t be able to play at the Club World Cup, they can still announce the transfer, should a deal be struck.

Ange-Yoan Bonny Stats and Style of Play

Style

Ange-Yoan Bonny has drawn comparisons to the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Didier Drogba due to his power, presence and personality on the pitch.

At just 21, he commands attention from defenders, whether he is operating as a natural centre-forward, or occasionally off the wing.

Despite standing 189cm tall, he combines frightening physicality with a delicate touch, and has been the fulcrum in attacking phases for Parma over the past two seasons.
