Christian Pulisic Hails Milan Comrade As ‘Top Talent’ And Identifies Rossoneri Goals For The New Season

Start

Christian Pulisic has heaped praise on team-mate Rafael Leao and explained he can’t fathom why the Portuguese star has so many doubters.

The USMNT international conducted an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport and went on to discuss a number of topics in detail.

Pulisic would go on to speak about the pre-season tour of Asia and Australia, his improvement as a player since joining the Rossoneri as well as the club’s goals for 2025-26.

The American would also go on to talk about head coach Max Allegri and how is happy to play on the left wing for his new boss.

Christian Pulisic On Milan’s Pre-Season Tour

Milan have given a solid account of themselves in their opening pre-season games against Arsenal and Liverpool. The Serie A giants lost 1-0 to the Gunners before thrashing the English champions 4-2 on Saturday.

We put in a good performance in both games. We were solid, especially in the first half. We defended well and created some attacking chances,” Pulisic explained.

At this point in the season, I think it’s essential to face strong teams and, as a start, we can be satisfied.

Christian Pulisic Says He Has More Freedom At Milan

I’ve been given freedom here at Milan and I feel the trust everyone has in me, from my teammates to the coach, the management and the fans,” the USMNT star said.

The club gave me a great opportunity by signing me, and I must improve every year, work hard and keep stepping up my performance. If things are going well, it’s no surprise, given what I do during the season and in pre-season, as I give everything I can.”

Champions League The Aim For Milan

After finishing 8th in 2024-25, Christian Pulisic has one solid Milan goal for the upcoming season. ‘Captain America’ explained how a UCL spot is the target for 2025-26.

Yes, because it’s where we want to be. Our goal is to qualify next season. The Champions League is the most exciting European competition, and Milan deserve to be in it.”

The Rossoneri missed out entirely on European soccer. However, a campaign without distractions could provide the catalyst to a successful season.

Even Serie A betting sites are favoring Milan to finish in the top four at -163. Something of which Pulisic will be desperate to achieve.

Christian Pulisic On Max Allegri

Max Allegri returned to the San Siro for a second stint as head coach in May. In his maiden campaign in 2010-11, the Italian boss went on to win the Scudetto.

Christian Pulisic explained how Allegri has had a positive impact on the club and believes he is the right man to help the Rossoneri succeed once again.

He’s made the right start. He’s a coach who managed many great players,” Pulisic noted.

He knows how to talk to the team and create the right connection with the squad. He’s focusing on giving Milan strong defensive unity, which is essential to then create the chances to score.”

When quizzed on his position of playing left wing, the American star said he is happy to play there. In fact, he explained he is happy to operate in a number of positions for Allegri.

I love playing in all positions, including this one. I’ve already played there in the past, in a similar formation, and starting from the left is surely not a problem.”

Rafael Leao Is A ‘Top, Top Talent’

Rafael Leao has made a bright start to the pre-season tour and was unplayable at times against Liverpool on Saturday. The Portuguese international opened the scoring and also laid on an assist for Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Christian Pulisic lavished praise on his team-mate and explained he was unsure why Leao has a number of doubters across the soccer spectrum.

I don’t understand why people keep doubting his potential,” Pulisic explained.

We know what he’s capable of and, seeing him score like he did on Saturday against Liverpool, after a great burst of speed, didn’t surprise us. To me, he’s a top, top, top talent. Like the rest of the team, he just needs to find consistency, and then he’ll be more and more decisive.”

Leao and Pulisic are expected back in action this Thursday. The Rossoneri will play their third and final tour game against Perth Glory at HBF Park.
