What Next For Dele Alli As Former England Star Told He Is Not Part Of Como’s Plans?

Start

The latest Dele Alli transfer news has indicated the Como midfielder is considering his next club after being told he doesn’t feature in Cesc Fabregas’ plans this season.

Alli moved to the Sinigaglia in January but has struggled to make an impact for Lariani. He was sent off on his Serie A debut when he hauled down Milan’s and former England team-mate Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The ex Tottenham wonderkid has battled a number of personal issues off the pitch. Now, Fabregas has reportedly told the 29-year-old he is free to seek a new venture to revitalize his career.

Is Dele Alli Retiring?

Despite a flurry of rumors, it has been reported that Dele Alli will not be retiring from professional soccer. Although he doesn’t feature in Como’s plans, the attacking midfielder will try his luck elsewhere.

Cesc Fabregas’ side – who are +500 to finish in the top four this season with offshore sportsbooks – signed Alli in January on an 18-month deal.

However, Alli has not traveled with his team-mates to Marbella for a pre-season training camp. His turbulent career has hit another snag but according to The Times, retirement is not an option and Alli is ‘keen to continue’ with a new team.

Dele Alli Transfer News

Having only made one appearance for Como which lasted less than ten minutes, there will still be a number of clubs willing to give Dele Alli a contract.

As it stands, moving back to England is the likeliest outcome. However, a suitor in the EFL Championship over a Premier League team is perhaps a better option for the 29-year-old.

That would help take some of the spotlight off him. With that said, staying in Europe or even exploring options in the MLS would draw less attention than a move back to old blighty.

Whatever Alli does decide, it’s important he doesn’t rush into a decision. The main purpose is to find a new home whereby he can regain his fitness, enjoy his soccer and rediscover his love of the game once again.

Dele Alli Stats

Once heralded as one of the best midfielders in the world, a number of physical and personal challenges have hindered Dele Alli’s career.

However, Alli’s rise to the top as a teenager was incredible. After scoring 24 times in 88 appearances for MK Dons, Premier League side Tottenham came calling.

And it was his time in north London that propelled Alli to stardom. Not only did he score 67 times in 279 outings for the Lilywhites, he was also named PFA Young Player of the Year in 2015-16 and 2016-17.

Alli was also named in the Premier League Team of the Season in both years. His skill and swagger on the pitch saw him linked with some of the world’s greatest clubs.

However, owing to his mental health struggles, his soccer career was cruelly halted A transfer to Everton in 2021-22 didn’t prove fruitful. A loan move to Besiktas was slightly more successful but his decline was already in motion.

Having scored 94 times and providing 69 assists in his career, there is a lot more Alli can contribute. Once he regains his motivation and desire, he could make a fine addition for a willing suitor.
