Juventus have made no secret of their desire to shift Douglas Luiz out the door this summer, and his anauthorized absence from their first pre-season training session has only added fuel to the flame.
Douglas Luiz Misses Juventus Training
Juventus began their pre-season preparations on Thursday, as Igor Tudor’s men took to the field for the first training session since returning from the Club World Cup.
There is a palpable sense of optimism around Juve’s chances this season, particularly with the club showing intent in the transfer window, having spent over $100 million so far.
That optimism isn’t shared by everyone in Turin, however, and man in particular has grabbed the headlines this week for all the wrong reasons.
Douglas Luiz was a notable absentee from Thursday’s training session, and by all accounts, there has been no official reason given to the club.

Is Douglas Luiz Leaving Juventus?
The Brazilian arrived last summer in a sensational $60 million move from Aston Villa, but minutes have been at a premium and poor form on the pitch has resulted in a disastrous career move.
Luiz racked up just 19 appearances across the campaign, in which he started just three.
New manager Igor Tudor is clearly not a fan either, fielding the 27-year-old for a total of 27 minutes since taking over the hot seat.
Reports suggest that Juventus are prepared to cut their losses and entertain a quick-fire sale, in the region of $45 million. Luiz’s agent has already contacted a host of Premier League clubs, including Everton and West Ham, who are the two front-runners for his signature, according to offshore sportsbooks.
With Juventus already willing to sell the midfielder this summer, this latest rebellious chapter has only accelerated the need to get him off the books.
The Old Lady will look to take disciplinary action before listening to offers in the coming days. Luiz’s agent is due to meet representatives from Premier League clubs this week, although none of the interest parties have shown willingness to meet Juve’s demands.
Club captain Manuel Locatelli has shown himself to be Tudor’s preferred choice in the holding midfield role, but Juve have also targeted Raphael Onyedika from Club Brugge as the ideal, future-proof candidate to funnel Luiz’s fee towards.
