Atalanta Ready To Muscle In On Roma’s Deal For Evan Ferguson

Start

The latest Evan Ferguson transfer news has revealed that Atalanta are ready to outmuscle Roma in the race for the 20-year-old’s signature.

Ferguson looks destined to be moving to the Stadio Olimpico on a season-long loan deal from English Premier League side Brighton.

However, the Dea are not giving up hope of luring Ferguson to the Gewiss for the 2025-26 campaign. Ivan Juric’s side could well be losing star man Mateo Retegui to the Saudi Pro League and view the Seagulls hitman as an ideal replacement.

Evan Ferguson Transfer News

In November, Juventus were considering a loan move for Brighton’s Evan Ferguson ahead of the January transfer window. However, that move failed to materialize.

Ferguson opted to stay in the Premier League and moved to West Ham for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign. Despite struggling at the London Stadium, interest from Serie A clubs hadn’t waned.

The Republic of Ireland international only featured eight times for the Hammers. Across those appearances, the 20-year-old failed to find the back of the net for the Londoners.

Roma and Atalanta are still willing to give Ferguson a new lease of life in Italy’s elite soccer division. As it stands, the Giallorossi appear to be winning the race.

Will Evan Ferguson Pick Roma Or Atalanta?

Various reports suggest that Roma already have an agreement in place to sign Evan Ferguson on a season-long loan deal from Brighton.

Nonetheless, Serie A rivals Atalanta are trying to muscle in on the deal. New head coach Ivan Juric is keen to replace star man Mateo Retegui who looks destined to leave the Gewiss.

Alongside Ferguson, the Dea boss is also keeping tabs on Udinese’s Lorenzo Lucca as well as Lyon forward Georges Mikautadze.

If Ferguson had to pick between the two sides, it appears that Roma would get the nod. However, the chance to play Champions League soccer with Atalanta will be hard to resist.

Evan Ferguson Career Stats

Although Evan Ferguson has struggled in recent seasons, his blistering form at the start of his career shows why the Serie A giants are willing to give him a second chance.

Ferguson is one of only four Premier League players to net a hat-trick aged 18 or under. The other three stars were Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler and Christ Bart-Williams.

That feat was accomplished at the start of the 2023-24 campaign. A long-term ankle injury cut Ferguson’s season short and he has struggled to return to his best form since then.

Throughout his career so far, Ferguson has a total of 97 appearances to his name and has scored 19 times. The best betting apps all indicate Ferguson will leave the Amex this summer with Roma or Atalanta his most likely destinations.
