Marko Arnautovic is reportedly keen on staying in Italy after his deal in Milan comes to an end at the end of the June and has attracted interest from Torino.
Why Are Inter Not Renewing Marko Arnautovic’s Deal?
The Austrian striker will leave the San Siro at the end of the month as his deal with Inter Milan comes to a close and Arnautovic is said to be keen on staying in Italy.
Arnautovic’s most memorable moments in Italy have come within the last five years, however, his first actions on Italian soil came in August 2009 as he joined the club on loan from FC Twente – making just four appearances across all competitions.
Interestingly, the Austrian was a part of Inter’s treble winning side during the 2009/10 season and qualified for a medal in each tournament despite playing under 150 minutes.
In August 2021, the former West Ham striker moved to Italy in a €9 million move to Bologna, where he would go on to score 25 goals in 58 appearances for the Serie A side.
After an impressive spell with Bologna, Arnautovic went on to join Inter on loan in August 2023 and contributed to 10 goals during his initial spell.
His performances were enough to convince the Nerazzurri to agree a permanent deal with Bologna and Arnautovic joined the club for $14m in July 2024.
During his various spells with Inter, Arnautovic has contributed to 19 goals in 65 appearances (14G + 5A) and won two Serie A titles, the Champions League and Coppa Italia.
Inter have gone through a huge shake up in recent weeks, suffering the biggest defeat in Champions League final history and parting ways with Simone Inzaghi who has now been replaced by Cristian Chivu and Walter Samuel will work as an assistant manager.
A change in manager means the Austrian’s time in Milan is all-but over and at 36-years-old, Arnautovic is coming to the end of an illustrious career.
Inter have decided against renewing his deal in Milan – meaning he will be available as a free agent in July.
Are Torino Interested In Marko Arnautovic?
At this current moment in time there has been no contact between Torino and Arnautovic over a move this summer but reports suggest there could be talks in the near future.
In January of this year, Torino did attempt to bring Arnautovic in on a short-term loan deal but the former Stoke City striker declined the offer and stayed in Milan.
After finishing 11th in the league last season, the Turin-based side will be eyeing-up some fresh faces this summer especially as they are one of the favourites to be relegated on the Serie A betting sites.
Torino have recently appointed Marco Baroni and the Italian may be looking to bring a reliable goalscorer as one of his first courses of action this summer.
