The Luka Modric contract details have been revealed after the Croatian legend completed his free transfer to Milan on July 14.
Modric spent 13 glorious years at Real Madrid where he won 28 major honors. He also won the 2018 Ballon d’Or after leading his nation to the World Cup final in the same year.
The 39-year-old is the second signing since Max Allegri took charge of the Rossoneri earlier this summer. Samuele Ricci was the first edition when he joined from Torino for €23million.

What Shirt Number Will Luka Modric Wear At Milan?
After donning the No.10 jersey at Real Madrid, Luka Modric will be wearing No.14 for Milan. The change highlights a new era for the legendary midfielder.
After 13 trophy-laden years with the LaLiga giants, Modric can look forward to an exciting new chapter of his career where he’ll be aiming to restore the glory days at the San Siro.
The Rossoneri endured a difficult 2024-25 campaign. Despite winning the Supercoppa Italiana, Il Diavolo lost out to Bologna in the Coppa Italia final and missed out on European soccer after finishing 8th in Serie A.
Such a challenge isn’t typically what Modric is used to. However, the seasoned pro will be keen to prove to the Milan faithful he is up for the task at hand.
Meanwhile, a quick-fire deal for Andy Robertson has also been touted for the Rossoneri. The legendary Liverpool defender looks set to leave Anfield this summer.
Luka Modric Contract
Luka Modric has signed a one year deal with Milan with the option to extend by a further year. That means the six-time Champions League winner could be playing at the top level when he is 41.
That in itself is a testament to Modric’s dedication, longevity and professionalism. Rossoneri supporters are rightfully delighted to have a craftsman as talented and experienced as the Croat on board.
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup coming up, the 39-year-old will be aiming to represent Croatia on the biggest stage one last time.
Until then, the midfield maestro knows he has his work cut out at club level. After Milan’s struggles last year, Modric’s form will be vital if Max Allegri’s side are to have a successful season.
Who Could Luka Modric Make His Debut Against?
Luka Modric could potentially make his Milan debut in a pre-season clash against Arsenal on July 23. The European heavyweights will go toe-to-toe at Singapore’s National Stadium.
Three days later, the Rossoneri will play Liverpool at the Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong. Modric is also expected to feature in pre-season against Perth Glory, Leeds and Chelsea.
His competitive debut could come against Bari in the 1st round of the Coppa Italia on August 17. Modric’s Serie A bow is expected to come against newly-promoted Cremonese at the San Siro on August 23.
