58 players are in danger of being out of contract at the end of June. See the full list of Serie A free agents in 2025, with all but three clubs contemplating players approaching the end of their current deals.
Clubs from top to bottom in the Serie A are scrambling to get ahead in the summer transfer window, but negotiations closer to home may be a more pressing issue.
The expiry date for players nearing the end of their contracts, June 30, is fast approaching.
A combined total of 58 players across the Italian top-flight are in danger of entering free agency, if their clubs show no intention to renew their deals at the final hour.
The only teams not sweating over the contract expiry date are Roma, Juventus and Fiorentina, all of whom have left nothing up to chance this summer.
However, the remaining 17 teams in Serie A all currently stand to lose players at the end of the month, and with zero financial gain.
Some teams are in a position where as many as six players could depart for free — namely newly-promoted Sassuolo — who could lose the likes of Pedro Obiang and Jeremy Toljan. The pair made a combined 69 appearances in Serie B last season.
As for the most high-profile names who could be available for free, AC Milan’s Luka Jovic, Inter’s Marko Arnautovic and Atalanta’s Mario Pasalic all look set to leave, with no indications of fresh contract talks.
Milan are also keeping tabs on potential out-of-contract players who could come in, as they target a free transfer for Luka Modric.
Elsewhere, there are a host of clubs weighing up whether to enact options for contract renewals. Most notably, Inter’s Stefan de Vrij has an option to renew for another year. The Dutchman has seen his minutes drop slightly this season, and interest from Saudi Arabia for the 33-year-old could allow Inter to free up space on their wage bill for a younger option.
There are also players on the list below that, according to reports, are on the verge of agreeing new deals. Lazio’s veteran winger Pedro, who is still rolling back the years after his first double-figure goal haul in a league campaign since 2013/14, looks set to stay in the capital beyond the summer.
Live betting sites‘ favourites for 2025-26, Napoli, owe a lot to goalkeeper Alex Meret for their Scudetto win this season. He kept clean sheets in half of his Serie A appearances — the most in the league. His contract is set to expire in June, but everything points towards the club renewing for at least another year.
