Como 1907 are set to take the next step in their pursuit of Alvaro Morata, as Cesc Fabregas looks to bring the Spaniard back to Italy this summer.
Are Como Interested In Alvaro Morata?
The Italian side are looking to bolster their front line after an impressive season in Serie A, finishing 10th in the league – featuring in Italy’s top division for the first time since 2003.
One man that has reportedly caught Como’s attention is Spanish international, Alvaro Morata, who spent the majority of last season on loan at Galatasaray.
Morata’s move to Turkey came after an unsuccessful few months with AC Milan, after the Spaniard signed for the seven-time Champions League for around $16 million.
After just six months in Milan, Morata joined Galatasaray on loan in the January window and went on to contribute with nine goal contributions in 12 league matches (6G + 3A).
Galatasaray have some buy options available for the striker, however, Morata is reportedly looking to end his time in Turkey ahead of next season.
A return to Milan also appears to be off the cards, despite Massimiliano Allegri’s appointment and this uncertainty has alerted Como over a move for the Spaniard.
Milan have recently signed another former Real Madrid player, as the clubs’ sporting director revealed that Luka Modric will be heading to the San Siro this summer.
Morata’s loan deal with Galatasaray does not end until January of next year, meaning Milan would have to pay a fee to terminate his deal and look to cut their losses in a sale.
Why Does Morata Want To Leave AC Milan?
The exact reason behind Morata’s urge to leave Milan on a permanent basis is not public knowledge, however, it could be down to a multitude of reasons.
One which has spread around fan forums is the lack of ‘love’ the Spaniard felt in Milan, after scoring six goals in his opening 25 matches for the Serie A side.
Milan are currently huge outsiders to win the league title on Serie A betting sites and Allegri has a huge task on his hands to improve on the 2024/25 season – where the Rossoneri finished eighth.
Morata has a huge affiliation to Italy after his time with Juventus, making 185 appearances for the Old Lady which is the most he has made for any club.
The Turin-based side do not appear to be in the running for their former star, but are looking to offload Dusan Vlahovic, which has attracted the interest of AC Milan.
