Roma Prepared To Offload Evan Nidcka After Manchester United Step Up Interest In Ivory Coast International

Start

Manchester United could be continuing their strong start to the summer transfer window, as the Red Devils are reportedly keen on Roma defender, Evan Ndicka.

Do Roma Want To Sell Evan Ndicka?

In July 2023, Evan Ndicka signed for Roma from Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer and has gone on to make 85 appearances for the Italian side across all competitions.

However, during his two seasons at the club, there has not been any major progress made by the Rome-based franchise – finishing sixth in 2023/24 and fifth in 2024/25.

Despite this, the Ivorian international’s performances have been extremely impressive and Ndicka was a key reason as to why Roma only conceded 35 goals in 38 Serie A matches.

Putting in such strong performances has put Ndicka in a position where some of Europe’s elite sides are looking his way and at 25-years-old this could be the best summer window to make a move.

The Italian side will not be jumping at the chance to sell their star defender, however, with the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham both interested it could be hard to keep a hold of Ndicka this summer.

His relationship with Claudio Ranieri could play a part in this deal, especially after Ranieri turned down the Italian national team job to focus on Roma.

Will Manchester United Sign Evan Ndicka?

Ruben Amorim’s opening season as Manchester United manager did not go according to plan, as the Red Devils achieved their lowest finish in Premier League history (15th) and were beaten by Spurs in the Europa League final.

The Portuguese manager has only been in charge since November 2024 and has failed to implement his style on this United side – which has highlighted problems in all areas of the pitch.

Such a poor start to his tenure has made Amorim one of the favorites to be sacked first on some of the best betting sites, which could occur if the former Sporting manager makes a poor start to the 2025/26 campaign.

One primary issue is United’s struggles in front of goal, scoring just 44 goals in 38 Premier League matches and Amorim addressed this issue in the opening stages of this summer window by signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

The Red Devils are also in the process of signing Brentford forward, Bryan Mbeumo, as the two clubs are currently negotiating a new deal after the Bees rejected an initial $55m bid.

Another issue that United may need to address is their back-line, as Ruben Amorim is a manager that plays with a back three meaning more options are required and each one has a specific role.

At this current moment in time United have some young talent in their central defensive ranks, with the likes of Ayden Heaven and Leny Yoro impressing in their debut season at Old Trafford.

However, with Victor Lindelof leaving the club and the likes of Harry Maguire ageing by another year, the red half of Manchester are reportedly looking to add another center back to their roster.

Recent talks have suggested that Manchester United are looking into the possibility of signing Ndicka this summer and are focusing on a left-footed player for their side.

Does Evan Ndicka Have A Release Clause At Roma?

As Ndicka joined on a free deal it means that any fee Roma can obtain for the Ivorian will go down as straight profit and the 25-year-old may have a release clause in his contract.

It has not been confirmed but Evan Ndicka can reportedly leave Roma for a fee of $45.6m this summer and the Italian side are said to be set on this amount.
