Massimiliano Allegri Looks To Make Early Statement At AC Milan As Veteran Manager Targets Former Juventus Star Adrien Rabiot

Start

Massimiliano Allegri is wasting no time in making a mark on AC Milan, as the veteran manager is reportedly keen on signing French midfielder, Adrien Rabiot.

Are AC Milan Interested In Adrien Rabiot?

Recent reports from a variety of Italian soccer outlets, including Gianluca Di Marzio, have revealed that Massimiliano Allegri is pushing to bring some fresh faces to the club right away.

One name that has popped up in the early stages of the summer is former Juventus star, Adrien Rabiot, who is currently playing his soccer in Ligue 1 with Marseille.

The Frenchman returned to his home nation in September 2024, making 31 appearances across all competitions for Marseille and scoring 10 goals in the process.

His move to Marseille was completed as a free agent after Rabiot’s contract with Juventus ran its course in July of that year, as the midfielder did not want to renew his deal in Turin.

Rabiot’s deal with the Ligue 1 side will expire in June 2026, meaning the 30-year-old still has a year remaining on his contract and any move would cost around $15-20 million.

Allegri and AC Milan are currently in the process of unloading some star names to fund any possible additions this summer, even entertaining the idea of selling French international, Mike Maignan.

The world class shot-stopper looked set to be joining Chelsea this summer, but move fell through as Chelsea refused to pay AC Milan’s asking price of around $35m.

Such a huge shake-up in Milan was to be expected after the club relieved Sergio Conceicao of his duties following an eighth placed finish and Allegri will be looking to repeat his 2010/11 success with Milan in his second spell with the club.

Have Rabiot and Allegri Worked Together Before?

Adding Rabiot to their midfield roster could be a smart move after Milan saw star man, Tijjani Reijnders, join Manchester City in the opening weeks of the transfer window.

Allegri and Rabiot do have a history together, as the veteran manager returned to Juventus in 2021 and the two have won one piece of silverware together – clinching the Coppa Italia trophy in 2023/24.

The two have enjoyed huge success in their respective careers, with Allegri winning six Serie A titles and Rabiot picking up six consecutive Ligue 1 titles between 2012-2019.

Earning success for a team like Milan would be the most impressive triumph to date however, given PSG’s and Juventus’ dominance during that era.

At this current moment in time, Milan are not one of the favorites to win the league title on Serie A betting sites and need to add star quality to their ranks this summer.
