Multiple sides across Serie A are reportedly interested in Newcastle star, Nick Pope, as the Englishman’s future with the Magpies has been put into doubt due to Aaron Ramsdale’s loan move to St James’ Park.
Will Nick Pope Leave Newcastle?
The English goalkeeper has been linked with a move away from Newcastle in recent days following the imminent arrival of former Arsenal star, Aaron Ramsdale, who will join from Southampton on loan.
Following the Saints’ relegation from the Premier League, Ramsdale had been tipped to move on from St Mary’s as he looks to play in England’s top-flight ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Nick Pope’s spot in the starting eleven will now be put under major pressure, as Eddie Howe is said to be a huge fan of the incoming shot-stopper.
The former Burnley goalie move to Tyneside in July 2022 and has gone on to make 95 appearances for the Toon, helping the club win their first piece of silverware in 70-years last season – winning the Carabao Cup with a 2-1 victory over Liverpool.
His deal with the Magpies is set to expire in June 2026, meaning he would be able to leave as a free agent next summer and Newcastle may be looking to cash-in on the 33-year-old this summer.
Pope has been linked with a move within the United Kingdom, as Burnley are reportedly keen on resigning their former star following James’ Trafford’s move to Manchester City.
The Clarets are one of the favorites to be relegated on a host of offshore betting sites and bringing a player with Pope’s experience in could be the difference in staying up next season.
However, Scott Parker will face stiff competition from a plethora of sides across the UK and according to reports, Pope has also attracted interest from Serie A.
Which Serie A Sides Are Interested In Nick Pope?
With the latest news over Nick Pope’s possible exit from Newcastle hitting the headlines, teams across Europe have taken notice and the shot-stopper could be heading to Italy.
According to reports, both Roma and Como 1907 are monitoring Pope’s situation in Tyneside, with both sides looking for a dominant figure in-between the sticks.
Roma will head into the 2025/26 season under a new regime, as Gian Piero Gasperini takes the reins for the first time and the veteran manager has prioritized a shot-stopper.
The Giallorossi are also looking into bolstering their squad in other areas and are Roma are ready to rival Fenerbahce for the signature of Sassuolo star, Armand Lauriente.
If Gasperini cannot get his hands on the England international then Cesc Fabregas may swoop in to continue his summer spending spree with Como.
