Empoli Football Club has officially announced the acquisition of goalkeeper Devis Vasquez on a temporary basis from AC Milan, with an option to make the move permanent. The Colombian shot-stopper joins the Tuscan side to bolster their goalkeeping options for the upcoming season.
Born on May 12, 1998, in Barranquilla, Colombia, Vasquez developed his skills in the youth academies of Cortulua, La Equidad, and Patriotas Boyoca. His professional journey began in 2020 when he signed for Guarani in the Paraguayan top flight. The following year, Vasquez made his Primera Division debut with Olimpia, also featuring in the Copa Libertadores against Royal Pari.
Vasquez’s performances in Paraguay caught the eye of European scouts, leading to his acquisition by AC Milan in January 2023. The Italian giants then loaned him to Sheffield Wednesday in the English Championship, where he made ten appearances.
Most recently, Vasquez returned to Italy for a loan spell with Ascoli in Serie B. During his time there, he impressed with five clean sheets in ten matches, showcasing his potential as a reliable goalkeeper.
