Paulo Dybala expresses desire for Premier League experience

Start

Roma forward Paulo Dybala has expressed his ambition to play in the Premier League, with uncertainty surrounding his future in Serie A. Dybala’s current contract with Roma expires next summer, and he has yet to agree on an extension with the club, despite being a pivotal player since joining under former manager Jose Mourinho.

Speculation about Dybala’s next move has been rife, and in a recent interview with The Athletic, he discussed his future aspirations. Among various topics, he revealed his admiration for both the Premier League and La Liga, hinting at a possible move to either league.

“It’d be hard to leave, but of course, you always have the curiosity and wonder how you’d do in leagues as good as La Liga and the Premier League, where there are great teams and great players,” Dybala said.

Reflecting on the summer of 2019, Dybala shared insights into past transfer interests from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, which ultimately did not materialize.

“That summer, I remember there was an approach from Manchester United as well as Tottenham, but it was more Manchester because Juve wanted to make that move,” he recalled. “It was the season Juve appointed (Maurizio) Sarri, so I spoke to him to find out if he really didn’t want me on the team. After our chat, my intention was to stay. I didn’t want to leave. I wanted to stay because I was happy (in Turin). That was my best year.”

This season, Dybala has been instrumental for Roma, scoring 13 goals and providing nine assists in Serie A, along with two goals and one assist in the UEFA Europa League.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Dybala’s future remains a topic of interest, with fans and pundits alike eager to see if his Premier League ambition will be realized.
