Milan defender believes the Scudetto race is still open and reveals how Zlatan Ibrahimovic only talks about winning. The England International spoke with Gazzetta dello Sport about his experiences at the club and started by addressing the three-way race for this seasons title.
Inter are an excellent team, Napoli have quality. I also like Juventus and Roma. I don’t think one is better than the others, each, if anything, has strengths and weaknesses. Like us, moreover, who have characteristics that can allow us to win against anyone. The table will eventually tell who was the best: today it rewards us and our strengths.
We know where we are and where we want to go. We know it is a decisive moment and that distractions are not allowed. But we have great champions who help us and show us the way: Maignan won the last French championship with Lille, Giroud raised the World Cup, Ibra has a crazy mentality, and in the staff there are competent and winning people like Dida and Bonera. When this group works, it does so with great concentration. We are young, but determined.
Since I arrived Ibra has only repeated one word: ‘win’. Win in every situation, in training, in the game. From the locker room to the pitch, his voice is always heard. It spurs us on and on and makes a huge contribution to making us stay focused. He is the first to point out if we have to run more or defend better.”
